Every January the 6th graders take their yearly pilgrimage from Hostos Lincoln Academy of Science’s campus on St. Anns and 149th street over to the Hostos Community College’s Campus.
The week always yields growth, learning, and fun. One of the middle school teachers described it as “an opportunity for the middle school students to see what they are working so hard to.” Another middle school teacher said, “it is exhausting - but worth it.”
One of my favorite parts of the program is the performance at the end of the week. Below is a short video from one of the groups who studied the history of the South Bronx and its relationship to hip-hop. ENJOY!
