When the Hostos communications department asked for students to spotlight during commencement season the first student that came to mind was Isaac Montiel. He is graduating from Hostos Lincoln Academy (HLA) in June, but in May he will virtually walk across the remote stage as a Hostos Community College graduate. He has maintained a 4.0 his entire college career and is this year’s Hostos Lincoln Academy Valedictorian.
Isaac’s advise on how to be successful: “Take a moment to assess reality, be realistic with yourself, and observe what it is that you need help in and what you’ll need to succeed,” he said. “Take any help you can get, like at the Writing Center. Everything is there for you. Accept people’s help.”
I am incredibly grateful to have been able to see him grow.
